There used to be a photo, inside a black frame sitting a top a tidy desk: If one looked closely, one would notice that it had been carefully taken care of. The frame, to most, would appear perfect, but to someone with a keen eye, they'd notice the fondness that was put into taking care of that one single picture, along with that single black frame.
On the back of the photo, the text would read, "Drew and Eve, age 14." In the background, if one knew where to look, one could see the west tower of a boarding school. Next to the two brown haired, brown eyed children, suitcases were lined.
It was their–our first day.
The photo no longer sits a top the desk. The desk no longer exists.
It was never part of the plan–we were never meant to stay, but for some reason we did. And while that reason should have been earth shattering at best, it was quite simple in the end: Love.
He fell in love, and somehow, that which should have changed nothing, changed everything. Such an insignificant thing became something that would shape the entirety of our lives–our future.
So he stayed. And so I stayed.
I tried arguing my point. He only smiled–smirked knowingly as he looked at me, as if he suddenly had all the answers and held the world right in the palm of his hand. Then he spoke, "C'est la vie."
And then, without warning, everything changed. The entire world as we knew it went to hell. While to most, it was a tragedy, though to me, it was a moment of clarity. This was the world now–perhaps not at the right time, but as it always should have been.
It was an easy decision to make. It was an easy defeat to accept.
My records might have been destroyed, but my fate was sealed. I was useful to them. I complied. I didn't put up a fight. I did everything they told me to. Have you ever heard of the Darwinian evolutionary theory? It's a way of describing something as simple as natural selection, and that was exactly what this was:
Survival of the fittest.
And so I did. I survived.
There was this one girl, she understood. She understood what it took to stay alive, and not just the basic concept of it, either. No. She truly understood the sacrifice, and how easy it was to make.
When you're faced with two choices–either you adapt, or you die. Choose the selfish choice. Choose the one that keeps you alive. Choose you.
She did. She chose the selfish choice. She chose the one that kept her alive.
She chose herself.

When all the tears are rolling down your face
And it feels like yours was the only heart to break
When you come back home and all the lights are out
And you're getting used to no one else being around

When it's Friday night and the drink don't work the same
And you're alone with yourself and there's no one else to blame
When you still can't feel the rhythm of your heart
And you see your spirit fading in the dark

When you're lost down the river, babe, I'll be there
When you're lost in the darkness, I'll be there
I'll be there when your heart is breaking
You'll never be alone, I'll be there for you
And then, without warning, everything changed. The entire world as we knew it went to hell. While to most, it was a tragedy, though to me, it was a moment of clarity. This was the world now–perhaps not at the right time, but as it always should have been.

And so I did. I survived.
When you need a little love, I got a little love to share
I'm gonna come through
You'll never be alone, I'll be there for you
Oh, I swear, I got enough love for two

Evelyn has the ability to freeze people (or objects) in place–and as such, make their body completely immobile. While the person is "frozen", they cannot move their body, but their otherwise bodily functions still work as normal: This means that when Evelyn focuses on their overall body, she cannot stop someone from moving their eyes, or stop their heart from beating. While "frozen", the immobile person is also cognitively present, which means that they'll still be mentally "there" during the freeze.
However, while freezing one's entire body is easier, she can still–through great focus and concentration, freeze single-target parts of one's body. Such as for example freezing one's chest/ribs, forcing its movement to a standstill and stopping the movement of drawing in air to the lungs. Or focus on someone's eyes, either forcing them shut or making them unable to move, or stopping someone's lips from moving.
While physical contact and hand gestures make the power easier to use–and much more effective, she can still freeze someone within line-of-sight. While freezing one's entire body takes little to no focus, freezing single-target parts require her constant attention, and the moment her focus or attention is lost, the body part will unfreeze.
LIMITATIONS
SIDE-EFFECTS

While freezing one's entire body takes little to no focus, freezing single-target parts require her constant attention, and the moment her focus or attention is lost, the body part will unfreeze.
LIMITATIONS
- Evelyn's power work better with people or animals. Moving objects (such as a fast moving car) is a lot harder to freeze and requires a lot more concentration.
- The larger and heavier the person or object, the harder they are to freeze.
- The effects of her power will always wear off. It's never permanent. As it stands, she can only freeze a person for roughly 45 minutes, and for each person she uses the ability on at the same time, the time limit is cut in half.
- Moving objects have a rough time frame of 20 minutes, where each object frozen at the same time makes the time cut in half.
- She's limited to line-of-sight. She cannot freeze someone she cannot see.
- People with psychic shields are immune to her power (as long as their shield is activated before her own power). Same goes for power suppression.
- The world around her still moves as normal. The only ones affected by her ability are the ones being frozen.
SIDE-EFFECTS
- Cleithrophobia: The fear of being trapped or stuck, leading to occasional panic attacks and a sense of anxiousness that can't be properly placed.
- Restlessness: Unable to remain in the same place or state for too long. Needs something to occupy her mind or hands often.
- Headaches: Mental exhaustion and straining that can lead to nose bleeds and dizziness. If forced once these symptoms show, it can lead to severe migraines and eventually, internal bleeding.
