AMANDA MAY
NIGHT
LOOKS LIKE Emmy rossum
Amanda is slightly above average in height at 5'8. She's a little thin, though it's not due to any lack of proper nutrition. She has slight curves that suggest femininity and she knows how to dress to her body type, though she usually dresses fairly casually or in scrubs. Her skin is pale with warm undertones and darkens well in the sun. She has a scar on her left shoulder from a broken bottle that was thrown at her during a bar fight on a particularly crazy night.
Amanda tends to look rather unremarkable, though not in the sense that she's unattractive. There's simply nothing particularly eye-catching about her unless she puts in the effort to be eye-catching, and that's just fine by her. She's doe-eyed, with big brown eyes and brown hair of about the same color. Her hair is long with natural curls, though she does tend to straighten her hair or at least relax it somewhat into gentler waves. She has an oval-shaped face, with a well-defined jaw and high cheekbones.
Amanda's life was nothing short of a fairy tale to others. A nightmare to her though. Her family was fairly wealthy and she had two older siblings and a younger one. None of them were super close to Amanda though, she was more or less the let down of the family. Every one of her siblings had near perfect grades, perfect looks, always super popular is school. The whole shebang. Amanda on the other hand, preferred people to look past her than at her. While she didn't mind the limelight, she knew her family was most likely only popular because they had lots of nice things and Amanda didn't want friends who were only friends with her because of that. So she kept to herself mostly and casually got through school.
Her parents were slightly more proud of her when she got into medical school and it was around this time when the whole mutant fiasco went down and she decided she was going to do something to help everyone. Once she had finished her medical school, she moved out from her parents and began working. She was definitely the most independent of her siblings and didn't mind being free from the judgmental space she had to call home. With the help of her parents, she bought her own building and made it into a bar, with a fairly secret-ish basement which she made a sort of make-shift field hospital in.
Now the only issue was informing the mutants who were doing their best to stay super hidden about her place. Of course, working at a bar she eventually found one. He came often and they spoke almost every time, her eventually bringing up the fact that technically she had the degree to be a doctor but things didn't pan out. On one fateful day, she found him lying behind her bar, seriously wounded and after several days of the man sleeping, she managed to nurse him back to a less dead state. He wasn't completely healthy but he was alive none the less. As he left, she reminded him that she was there for them and if he or a friend of his needed help again, she'd still be here.
With a nod, he left and she never saw him again. She knows he spoke about her though, slowly but surely hurt mutants came to her back door in the dark alleyway for aid. Always doing her best to be discrete about everything, only really asking for what information was needed. She helped them the best they could and if they could still move, she sent them on their way. She wasn't a refuge for them, only a place for medical assistance though they were more than welcome to come through the front and enjoy a drink afterwards. She knew it probably couldn't last forever, but she'd definitely try.
Benevolent The human had no problems with mutants when they were made public. If anything, she was in awe of them. They looked like your everyday human yet they had the ability to do 'impossible' things. When it was clear that they were being hunted, she took it upon herself to help them. She wasn't sure if they needed help but none the less, she opened a sort of underground hospital under her bar for them should they need a safe, quiet place to stay. With that said, she wasn't opposed to helping guardians either. She just wanted to help those that needed it.
Intelligent The girl graduated at the top of her class every year, at the best schools possible. Is what she would like to tell people but really she was extremely lazy when it came to school work and usually finished somewhere in the middle of her class. When she took tests and such, she aced nearly every single one and the homework she completed was flawless, you could ask any teacher she had and they would agree. Only downside was that she could hardly be bothered to pay attention in class or finish every homework assignment. She only really started applying herself when it came to her medical studies.
Reserved Amanda is super friendly. She's a doctor and has to keep a smile on her face to keep those around her at ease. At least that's what she feels like. In turn, she rarely shows how she's really feeling, even to most of her friends she can be quite the mystery. Her biggest enemy would empaths as they will always know how she's actually feeling but what can a human like her do?
Impatient Amanda doesn't like to waste time. If she feels someone is wasting her time, she isn't shy to make them aware of the fact or simply leave. She's a doctor, a very busy one too. With that said can always find more productive things for her to do or has other patients she can attend to.
Abrasive Unless she's in 'doctor mode', she isn't afraid to speak her mind and is more than happy to give people a reality check. She can often find enemies though she doesn't mind as much because those that don't mind her comments are some of the best friends she's seen or had. With that said, she is able to keep quiet at times but it would be best to remember that she could crush some dreams at any moment without even thinking.
