Arnaud was born in Portland from event planner - and overall queen of her world - Monica Colbert. She always loved French and this is how he ended up with a French name, despite not knowing more than a few words in that language, and he’s probably not saying them properly either. He has no idea who his father is but it mattered not, for with her strong-will, Monica managed to be a strong female and male figure in his life and that while barely being there to see him at all, caught up as she was in work. He’s certain that his father is just some random donor she herself doesn’t know more about and he never tried to find out who he was. She also has a power that deals with persuasion. She likes to call herself some sort of muse, with what people are ready to do to impress her at times thanks to it. Even before his power manifested, she made sure to tell him how he always needed to use everything he had to his advantage, and not care what other people might say. It isn’t something Arnaud necessarily believes in, but he was raised being told he was special and that the world belonged to people like him and it sometimes reflects on his actions.

Arnaud was relatively popular and his mother always encouraged him to try everything. He considers that if he has no preference in terms of gender for romantic partners, it is thanks to her. Sometimes, you’d get the feeling he’s more into man, for he’ll have a string of male lovers. Then he’ll move on to women. One thing for sure though, he is unable to stay with just one partner. His heart may be yours, but his bdy sure isn't. He often acts like a privileged kid, which he was, but he exaggerate this trait in order to justify the actions people do under his influence by soemthing else than his power. His mother shaped two of his most important traits in him. The first, all thanks to her heavy hand on every matter, has him constantly feel uneasy being alone and seeking a powerful presence to stay under, or at least someone stable. It makes him ask for someone’s approval even when he knows deep down that what he did was right. Or look for a provider, someone to take care of him while he go around aimlessly. The other, in opposition to her beliefs, has him want to protect every lost puppy he finds, whether that is an actual puppy, a person or a grizzly bear. This left him hurt in the past before but it’s still in him and no doubt the reason why he ran out of the house.

His power first manifested a bit more than two weeks after the mutant rebels' attack on DC. His mother was then not too keen on letting him go to out of her sight and was even ready to use her power on the recruiters to slow down the process and gain more time. It seemed like she had good instinct for the government ultimately attacked the school. As a result, Arnaud never went to Bellefonte. She was glad that he had not gone there sooner for it would have meant his capture if not death. She instead chose to show him how their power worked, with mixed results. Arnaud is still not fully able to control it, at least when his emotions are in play. He is also not as keen as she is to use it on people.  Most of the time, it is harmless, as his mother said, and relatively easy to hide but this made some people act in excessive ways towards him. Still, it usually left people assuming that he keeps associating himself with obsessive and even abusive people. 

Arnaud didn’t stay too long with his mother, only the time for her to help him better control his power. He didn’t share enough of her mindset and couldn’t take how she pushed him to be like more that.  Arnaud is terrible at keeping his jobs, just like he is terrible at keeping anyone around him for too long. His mother chose to help him out and often provides for him, hoping he’d work with her eventually. If Arnaud is able to live well, it is mostly thanks to her and he is aware of this. Despite it all, they love each other. But he has no desire to work for her. You wouldn’t necessarily believe they are mother and child when you see them. Arnaud always addresses her by her name and she often sounds very dismissive of him. But she watches over him, like a hawk, and he is aware of that.

PHEROMONE-INDUCED SUGGESTION
Pheromone is a chemical secreted by the body to generate a social response in members of the same species. Aside from the regular pheromones every body makes, Arnaud has a special gland in his brain that secretes what you could call super-pheromones that will immediately give a feeling of trust on the person or persons affected.

Arnaud does not secrete them at all times, he has to want it or, in certain circumstances, does so unconsciously. Those circumstances being when he is himself in love and really wants to win the person or when he is afraid of something in order to make the threat less scary by calming it down.

The pheromones are secreted as part of the body's natural skin moisturizer under certain conditions. As a result, it works better through touch, mostly from his hands, but particles of it can be spread around him and affect people at a two feet radius. Those not in direct contact will not be as affected though. They may find him as less of a threat or more trustworthy but Arnaud will require more if he wants them to act a certain way. Even as he touches them, while it makes him immediately more likeable, he may need to keep a constant physical contact with them for them to perform certain tasks. In other words, he can make you more inclined to listen to him or agree with him but to perform actions that are very different from what you'd normally do, he requires a constant contact. Even then, it is not certain to work. He basically makes people more receptive to his persuasion through his pheromones but it doesn't mean it will work. It all depends how likely the person would perform these actions under normal circumstances. Arnaud is, however, able to make them believe such circumstances are occuring to make them act accordingly.

The pheromones act like a drug and as such, can have a stacking effect on people if used for a prolonged time. We're not talking of hours but multiple occasions on a regular to semi-regular basis and that for a few days or weeks, depending on the person. This can make people obsessed with him and require him to cut links for a period of time until the effect wears off completely. The cooling time depends on the person. A naturally possessive, jealous or obsessive person will be affected faster and will require a longer period of time until it washes away.

Because of the trust those pheromones cause on the people affected, they are more open to suggestion. He can then make them believe a lie or do something for him. If the lie is too big or what he asks it too against what the person would normally do, it might not work. It is possible for him however to find a way to make it more acceptable (someone might not want to slap a friend but he can make them believe they were cruel and then they would slap said friend). People cannot grow used to his pheromones. In other words, unless the person is naturally immune to that sort of power, they cannot grow accustomed or immune to it. It will always take the same level of exposure to it before they 'overdose' on them.

LIMITATIONS
- The closer to him, the stronger his power will be, but his power is definitely more effective with contact.

- The effects vary on the person: someone naturally attracted to him will love him whereas someone very antipathetic towards him might simply trust him a little.

- People less affected to pheromones and other chemicals could be immune or at the very least the effects will not be as strong. Empaths and telepaths might be able to sense something wrong in what they are feeling for him and this can cause resistance, allowing them to break from his control faster.

- It takes multiple times or a maintained contact for Arnaud to push people to do what he wants. At first, he will only be more trustworthy to them, unless they are already somewhat attrated to him, then it will go faster and make them more susceptible to his suggestions. The longer he uses his power, the strong the level of trust/adoration the person has for him will be, making them more likely to perform whatver he wants of them.

- It is easier to work if he merely suggests something to do than make it very clear, at least at first. While this makes it impossible to control what they would do if he merely suggests it, it does make them more likely to do it then by directly telling them what to do.

- The pheromones have a lasting effect of about ten minutes after he stopped touching someone. The exact time depends on the person and how mentally strong they are. When they are spread in the air, the effect is not only a lot less powerful, but it vanishes almost as soon as they get away from them. It's like having a vague impression that there had been something to see but you missed it. People will remember what they have done when under Arnaud's 'control', but it will be like the stupid things you can do for someone you like, they just might wonder how someone like him could have affected them so.  Since people cannot grow accustomed, to them Arnaud simply has some sort of strange charm to him. They can, however, resist him if they know who he is and has enough will-power.

- While Arnaud may suggest certain things to people, he cannot control their reaction to his pheromones. People are affected in different ways and will perform different actions depending on their personalities. If Arnaud says that someone had been cruel to him to someone under his 'control' for example, one might comfort him while another may go after that person. No matter how much he tries, Arnaud will not be able to make a quiet person violent if they don't have it in them.

- Affects only human beings.

- While his pheromones can eventually lead to romantic/physical emotions towards him, he cannot induce that on people who wouldn't naturally be drawn to him in the first place.

- His mother was a firm but lacking teacher. As a result, Arnaud is able to control his power most of the time but cannot stop it from turning in effect whenever he feels strong emotions. This can be either when he loves/is attracted to someone and wants to get their attention or when he is terrified by someone and wants them to become less of a threat towards him

- Is not immune to any form of pheromone manipulation/mind control.

SIDE-EFFECTS
- Mental fatigue when using his power repeatedly. As it is asking more from his brain, this can leave him with chronic fatigue and a weakened edurance which can lead to an increase in illnesses such as colds.

- He can also have some chemical imbalance when using his power often as his body works more on the pheromones than the rest. This can lead in loss of appetite, apathy or even mood swings.

- As he has no control on people’s reaction to those pheromones, he often has to deal with excessive reactions from them.

- Because of the stacking effect it can have on people, Arnaud has trouble having deep bonds with people and long-term relationships.

- Arnaud is naturally suspicious of any feelings of love from people as it could be coming from him.
