AND I'll SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. This was not the first time that Roxana had been pared up to work with someone and while she doubted it would be the last, she honestly would have preferred if it was. She was never really the type to work with other people, not because she didn't know how but more so that she didn't really want to. Okay, a small part might have been that she didn't know how to but more in the aspect of like building up that partner relationship. She had been getting better at it over the years, at least she felt that she was, but it was still...weird.
For so many years of her life it was normally just her on the job. Just her to be the one to accept the failures and the punishments that would soon come after. Not that she would complain about having to work with others. She made it clear that she felt that she did best when she didn't have to work with others but well it had also been made clear to her to do as she was told. So she did, for the most part. Right now was one of those times where she was going to behave and listen to orders fully.
She had been teamed up with a man by the name of Theodore Hasenkamp, someone who had made an impressive name for himself. He was good at capturing mutants, which was what they had been assigned to do. Rox had been informed she would be mostly observing today but if needed was to step in and provide some help. Apparently the jealous types wanted to see how the young man was doing so well for himself so she was there to be the proof that he was not not taking credit for someone else work or just picking up captured mutants from a third party.
Roxana sat down with her arms across her chest and her eyes closed while she waited for her partner to show up. He had been apparently busy with someone else so now was being briefed individually about his task on who the target was, where they most likely were, ad their power classification. Rox was not actually told much about who they were after, in fact she was only told where the target would be. It made sense, given she was more so just there to observe but she still didn't like knowing so little about a task she was given. Used to it, but still didn't like it. [googlefont=Bitter]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] WE ARE THE WARRIORS Who LEARNED TO LOVE THE PAIN Theodore sighed as he exited the room he was being briefed in. It was such a drag that the government kept assigning him partners.. if that's what he could even call them at this point. He felt like he'd become more of a babysitter as of late. Each one getting lazier and lazier, just watching him do their job. The whole partner thing wasn't an issue though, it was them getting credit despite doing nothing. Unfortunately, there was nothing Theo could really do about it. At least not yet. He looked down at the paper detailing his mission. A yellow, bone manipulation, frequently seen around some of the woods not too far off by a lake. There was also a picture attached and he stared at it for a few solid moments, ingraining the face into his memory. He tossed the file to the girl, "Be sure to get rid of it when you're done." he said curtly. He didn't know anything about who he was working with.. except her name. Roxana was it..? Not that it really mattered. He wasn't sure if he had been briefed but he made it a point to give the people that followed him another round because they never seemed to pay attention the first time they were briefed. Theo didn't care about the talk of others, he did his best to stick to his own road. It wasn't that he was anti-social in the sense that he wasn't sure how to interact with others, the humans around here just wasn't worth his time to interact with. Theo adjusted his headphones to help him quiet the noises around him and began walking for the forest. "So why are you a guardian?" The mutant didn't really care but they had some time before he had to get serious so, Theo figured he would make idle chat until they grew closer. AND I'LL SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. Roxana was not sure how long Theodore was in the breifing, it probably was not all that long but yet she had already felt herself drifting away. It was not as if she was honestly tired, she had been getting plenty of sleep, or at least enough to be able to function off of as per usual. She just felt...tired. In this case she supposed it was better to feel tired now when she was just here to watch the guy and was told to not do much. Of course if her 'partner' needed help she would step in but this was all for her to write up a report on him.
There was just so much talk of him being great but then others saying it was all their work so she was just going to clear it all up once and for all. Blue eyes opened and looked to the young man as he stepped out of the room and tossed the information at her. After easily catching the files she naturally looked through them, even if she had been informed that she didn't really need to know much about this job since it was all on the young man. Hmm...wonder if this target will come quietly. Roxana thought to herself as she scanned over the information before tucking it away within an inner pocket of her coat.
"Understood." Roxana simply replied, not bothered by the young mans tone or the fact that he practically gave an order she already knew. At least he was communicating with her. He already seemed like he was in a bad mood, but of course Rox didn't say anything. Just like him, she was not one for idle chatter. She would have been perfectly content just following behind the young man as they both headed in the direction where the target was said to have last been spotted. The young women was surprised when Theodore actually asked a question, making conversation. Or at least initiating one.
"Why?" Roxana asked in response. She...she honestly didn't have an answer for that. Would 'because it was what I was told to' be a sufficient enough answer? "I had already been doing thing similar to what Guardians do now, so it made sense to keep with it." Roxana then answered after a brief pause after her first question. Hopefully that was a good enough answer because it was the truth and Rox had no other answer to give.
"What about you? Are you okay with the idea that in a way you have betrayed your own kind?" Roxana asked Theodore back. She asked it the way she did on purpose, curious to how he felt on the matter. [googlefont=Bitter]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] WE ARE THE WARRIORS Who LEARNED TO LOVE THE PAIN Theo looked over at Rox briefly when she asked why. He didn't really care to know if she wanted to be difficult but before he could say 'nevermind' she continued. Theodore chewed lightly on the inside of his cheek as he thought over Rox's response. Was there really a possibility that the guardians were a thing before now? He missed out. He then scoffed at her asking the question in return and looked to the sky briefly. "Is it really betrayal if you were betrayed first? I'd say it's more so evening the score out. Besides, there's not much of a choice regardless if I thought it was wrong." he finished, looking to Rox curiously. Some might say this was all revenge but Theo wasn't so sure anymore. Once he had learned about the people that killed his parents being gone, he felt a need to make sure it didn't happen again to someone else. With that said, he didn't hate all mutants, this was just his reasoning when he was capturing them and bringing them back. They're just rogue mutants was all. Theodore knew better to put his trust on the government though. He knew they saw him as expendable and so he was sure to only do what was asked of him, no going above and beyond for them. "And on top of that, there's no going back to normal after all this." Theo said softly with a chuckle as he looked ahead, "Now mutants have a reason to hate humans and there's no stopping them from killing humans because there's nothing a human can do to prevent it. So the less of them out there, the better." Of course, all of his logic wasn't foolproof and a lot of it was having bad luck in the past but it was what he stuck to while on missions. AND I'LL SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. She didn't get a response back to her answer to his question, which had to mean that he was satisfied enough with her reply. That or he didn't really care that much. Rox was not bothered by it either way, she had no other answer to give him. None that she was allowed to give unless she wanted to get herself into some trouble with the people she really worked for. There was always someone else pulling the strings, nothing was ever just surface level deep. At the very leas the had a response to the returned question and Rox was honestly surprised by the answer he gave. He told so much about him without him having to go into details.
Or at least it gave her some ideas as to the kind of person he was and possibly what he had to deal with in the past that made him view things the way he did. "I suppose it all depends on how you look at it." Roxana replied to his first question, one that probably was more rhetorical but she answered it anyways. So someone had betrayed him and he was just paying them back or more likely a mutant did something that hurt him in some way and now he was making all mutants pay for it. It was not fair reasoning, but a common reasoning for any mutant who would go against 'their kind'.
"There is always a choice, you just have to be prepared for the consequences of that choice." Rox pointed out. That was rich coming from someone like her, but it was not like she was unaware that she honestly had a choice on what she did with her life. She just chose the outcome that would result in less punishment and more praise from the ones she wanted to please. Simple as that. Her blue eyes looked back at him with no real expression, her own mind busy with thoughts on what happened to this man in the past as well more self reflection on why she really was doing this job. Other then the whole just wanting to avoid punishment and the like, there had to be more reasons to it, or at least there should have been.
She did give a small nod in agreement for his first statement about how things would not go back to normal after this. It was true, things would be different but she didn't agree they would be as he was currently describing it. Perhaps its was foolish but while there would of course be those who fit into what Theo was describing, not everyone would. "If any mutants out there honestly think that, they are foolish. Even without powers, humans always find a way to adapt and conquer, its in their nature, our nature." Roxana pointed out.
Yes they were mutants, but they were also still human. Powers or not, both sides could be just as deadly, technology would just have to be the main factor that would help the humans. Along with the mutants that would no doubt side to protect them. [googlefont=Bitter]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] WE ARE THE WARRIORS WHO LEARNED TO LOVE THE PAIN Theo gave a simple shrug to Rox's response about view points. She wasn't wrong and he knew that it wasn't the greatest reasoning to turn other mutants in but it was what worked for him. It left him with the least amount of guilt though there were brief moments when he wondered if this was just who he was. After all, not everyone could be the good guy, right? The mutant cracked an amused smile for the first time when Rox spoke about always having a choice. He wasn't so sure that was exactly how having a choice worked, but he couldn't really defend against her logic it either. It was easy to see that you always had a choice if you looked at it from the point of 'could you deal with the consequences?'. "Then I guess you could say I accept the consequences of turning other mutants in." he said looking back at her, doing his best to judge her reaction. It wasn't as if she could argue it much either, after all, she was hunting mutants just like he was. At least for the moment. Our nature... meaning, Roxana was a human perhaps? If so, it was quite bold to say such a thing in front of a mutant. He looked her up and down curiously, silently studying her. "I believe there's nothing a human could do to stop a mutant from killing them." he said matter of factly as he looked away from Rox to study the area before him. He closed his eyes and took a deep in before taking his headphones off, leaving them around his neck and breathed out slowly. Letting the overwhelming noises surround him. He did this in stride, not missing a step as he reopened his eyes as he looked around. They were getting closer so it wouldn't be too long before they found an actual lead. "You people think you have the mutants figured out with your ridiculous colours," he said in a quieter tone, more so to save his ears than to be quiet, "but there is so much more to it. If a 'green' or 'blue', mutant wanted to use their power to harm people, I guarantee they'd be able to find a way that was just as dangerous as being around a 'red'." he finished with a brief laugh. Theo knew that sure, a blue or green could just shoot a human but that wasn't what he meant. "It would be wise for humans to remember that."[newclass=".boldtext b"]font-family:Krub; color: #4c72a7;[/newclass]

AND I'LL SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. Roxana watched every physical motion and listened very carefully to how Theodore spoke, it was how she normally was in a conversation. You learned so much by the way a person carried themselves and how they spoke in different topics of conversation. She had always been in the business of collecting information, so it was kind of hard to really be in any conversation and not try and figure out as much as she could about another person without asking them anything personal directly. The smile was a surprise, but a welcome one at that.
At least she was not dealing with someone that was too much like her, differences were important, especially when she was trying to change who she was. Even after all of these years, it was hard to break away what she had been used to for years. "Fair." Roxana simply replied. Her eyes closed for a moment, feeling that he was watching her. He was probably doing the same thing, trying to figure her out. It was true she could not argue with him on the matter, they were both on the same 'side' and both here to capture a fellow mutant. It was still weird to think about not too long ago she was training and learning alongside other mutants.
Rox was indeed a mutant but she still felt that they were human, at least in the aspect of how they thought. They still had human desires and feelings; well unless they had powers that altered that but for the most part they were all human. Just...better, perhaps? "Then you are foolish. Perhaps not in an one on one fight but the human race has always created things to help them have the advantage." Roxana pointed out. She didn't try to say it in any rude manner, but she was very blunt about thinking he was foolish for believing not human could beat a mutant. Rox was certainly not rocket proof, if a human got there hands on a rocket, they could easily put an end to her. Depending.
She slowed down her walking pace as it seemed they were getting closer to their target. She did't get ready to do anything, but she was alert just in case she would end up needing to do something. Her head did tilt slightly to the side for a moment when Theo started to point out how the color system was dumb and how low level colors could be just as dangerous as red. "I agree with you there. If anything the color system should be used to rank how dangerous a mutant is. Not based upon solely their power category." Roxana replied. She knew one person in particular who was placed in the green category but had killed a fair number of people.
The way Theo was speaking now made it seem like he thought she was human. Interesting, no harm in him thinking that and unless she needed to use her powers he would probably still think that by the time this mission was over. "Mutants would do well to remember that even a lowly human can put an end to them." Roxana pointed out, glancing away for a moment when she was certain she saw an out of place movement near a group of trees. [googlefont=Bitter]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] WE ARE THE WARRIORS WHO LEARNED TO LOVE THE PAIN Theo offered another smile, "Perhaps I am foolish but unless mutants start living under rocks, I feel as though there's no comparison." Yes, he could agree that mutants were humans, only superior but he wouldn't, couldn't, agree that humans could make something to put them ahead of mutants. If they were the same, what was stopping mutants from using this upgraded technology that always gave them the advantage? Theo knew mutants weren't invincible, but as long as they weren't thinking like cavemen then there was no way would a fight ever be 'fair'. Regardless, he was happy to hear that he wasn't the only one that found the colour system the government had issued was absurd. She seemed to have thought about rankings and such a little more than he had but the idea was the same and he nodded in agreement. He smirked as Rox reiterated what he had said about humans being careful. "I'll be sure to keep it in mind." Theo looked around for a moment, his face becoming more serious yet his body still fairly relaxed looking. "This is also the time where you can go hide or whatever if you'd like. He's here." Of course, he wouldn't frown upon receiving help but he found himself on his own more often than not. For various reasons, either simply because he was a mutant or because his partner(s) were too afraid to help to name a few of the recent occasions. Theo could hear the stray mutant moving about behind the trees, his breath already heavy. Theo assumed the stray was nervous. The guardian wondered if maybe he had known they were coming, not that it mattered. The results would be the same, Theo held himself to too high of a standard to let someone go, even if it was stupid and reckless. He sighed to himself and wondered if it would be worth trying to talk to the stray. It usually wasn't but what was the harm? It's not like they had an element of surprise. With his mind made up, Theo stepped out into a more open-ish area and put his hands up, "Hey uh, you probably know why I'm here so.." he said looking about for a moment before focusing his eyes on the tree the mutant was behind, focusing on the sound of his breaths to find him. "if you'd like to just come willingly-ish, I'll put in a good word for you when we get back. Deal?" He knew it probably wouldn't work but it would have been a much better alternative. AND I'LL SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. It seemed that they were at an impasse here. He was not going to agree that mutants could ever lose against humans and well she saw it as foolish to think that mutants would rule all. If mutants were really the top of the top, well they would not be in the situation they were in now. There would be no need for Guardians, no need for the color system, and things would go back to normal, or at least how it was back when she was going to Bellefonte Academy. Back when all she had to do was observe, report, and well make friends.
An odd feeling surged through her body as she thought about it all for a moment, not really certain what to call the feeling but she knew she didn't like it. Now was not the time to be thinking of what-ifs, there was a job to do and she had to focus on the guy in front of her in order to do that job. "Time will tell." Roxana simply replied. Time really was the judge of everything, it never stopped and things could change a lot or very little just given time. The young woman never once thought things would end up in this state.
She did know for sure humans would find out about mutants and she did expect the reaction to be bad. Humans had a habit of fearing and then trying to destroy what they didn't understand or could not relate to themselves personally. Yet she didn't think it turn out like this; however, things could easily change given the right events occur. Rox was not certain if he really was going to keep in mind that humans were still plenty dangerous, but that was his own choice to make. At least they agreed about the color system being flawed; as for everything else, not so much. Hide?
"I don't plan on hiding, but I'll stay out of your way unless it looks like you need help." Roxana assured him. She had no reason to hide, they were not doing anything stealthy and well if need be she could handle herself, kill even. She remained alert, hands ready to create at a moments notice, but she held back and focused mostly on Theo. She was here to watch him after all, curious to see how he was going to handle going up against a target that knew they were there and likely saw them before they saw him.
A brow raised slightly for a moment when Theo seemed to actually being going the talking route. It was not really certain if it was working or not, but at the very least it brought the mutant out of hiding. Not smart for them to give up hiding right away, unless they had a plan. Or if they really were going to give up. Rox almost spoke up, but instead she remained silent, again trying to not get in the way of whatever Theo was deciding to do. [googlefont=Bitter]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] WE ARE THE WARRIORS WHO LEARNED TO LOVE THE PAIN Theo took a moment to appreciate Rox's... offer to help? He wasn't sure what to call it exactly but the fact that she offered was fairly respectable. If she would actually be able to help at all, that was to be determined but should everything go smoothly she wouldn't be needed at all. Except for maybe an intimidation tactic?? While it wasn't planned out originally when Theo called out to the mutant, maybe he would be more willing to surrender when he saw that Theo wasn't alone. He made a quick note that if that's how things went down, it was totally planned that way. It didn't take long for the mutant to emerge from behind the tree, to which Theo offered a big warm smile. "Hey great! Nice to see you, I'm Th-" he paused abruptly to lean to the side slightly as the rogue mutant threw a bone spike at him. Theo raised his eyebrow at the rogue then looked to Rox with a wink before looking back to the rogue mutant. That was about the flashiest thing Theo could do. Of course, Theo had help that this mutant was weaker from doing his best to survive in a forest as well as being able to see that the mutants muscles were starting to flex before he had even moved. That wasn't the point though, he had to try and show off a little bit in front of the new partner. On to a more serious note, unfortunately, or fortunately, Theo had come to understand playing to his own strengths very quickly. He didn't have some super awesome power to overpower others or anything like that in fact the only really useful powers he had was being able to see the finer details as well as hear a lot better than others though the latter often felt like a curse as well. When he was first getting a hang of things and his powers, he had gotten pretty roughed up almost every time. In some ways, he guessed it had made him wisen up faster and work harder than his peers, leading him to where he was today. Quick, reliable, and a touch of smarts though he couldn't like that it wasn't uncommon for his plans to not quite turn out like he hoped. He was more of a guy to get a task completed rather than come up with the plan. Theo had become well versed in up close fighting. He wasn't an expert by any means but he was no slouch either. He made sure every he touched his opponent they felt his firm hits. The guardian cleared his throat a bit before continuing, "So uh, greetings aside then. It really sucks to live in the forest constantly on the hunt, yeah? The camp has food and a place to sleep, and you won't be alone." he managed to finish with a nod. Of course, Theo knew that his 'good word offer' was no longer on the table but the 'yellow' didn't know that. "So what do ya say buddy?" Theo sniffed a bit as he took the slightest step forward. He hoped that the other mutant couldn't see his patience wearing thin and if the rogue tried anymore funny business, Theo couldn't promise him and Rox would be going back with everyone alive. AND I'LL SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. Roxanan stayed back, watching and taking mental notes of the situation to see how it all played out and again she was ready just in case Theo needed help. She could not let the guy get injured while she was on the job with him, it would look bad on her given her skill. She was ideal for offense and defense while Theodore was...well he was faster in a way given his ability. If she remembered correctly she saw that his ability was superhuman sense. So less faster and more so that because of his powers he was able to get a slight upper hand on a situation.
It was a useful power now doubt but it had to be more then just his power that allowed him to make a name for himself. Rox said nothing when he dodge the bone spear that went flying past the both of them, however her head did tilt slightly in confusion at the wink. Was that a signal? They had not discussed a signal before and he could not have been flirting. So perhaps one of the more playful winks? That seemed to be the most likely. Rox remained silent and still, if not for the fact she shifted her weight slightly, already planning out what action she would take next if need be.
She was surprised that Theo was still giving the guy a chance even after he did technically try to attack him. Granted it could have just been a last ditch effort at trying to show how tough and danger they were so that he would be left alone to go free. The look in the mutants eye seemed to say something other then giving up. Look like he was getting ready to give everything he had left in him, to at least make his capture a difficult or impossible. Rox wondered if Theo picked up on it, he had to given his ability and the fact that he had been doing this for a while.
Rox still planned to stay out of it, unless she needed to get involved. Main goal was to observe the situation, second was to make sure that her partner and the target came back alive. There was the option to bring them back not alive, but they were a yellow and if there was the option to bring back alive that was what Rox would try first. She took a knee for now, to attempt to show that she was not fully involved in this fight and hoped it meant the mutant would likely go attack Theodore. She was ready either way, one of her hands touching the ground now and blue eyes looked back and forth between the target and her current partner.
"Do the smart thing." Rox did speak up, if only to see if it would sway the target from doing what his body looked already ready to do. [googlefont=Bitter]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] WE ARE THE WARRIORS WHO LEARNED TO LOVE THE PAIN Theodore stood for a solid minute staring the other mutant down. The rogue was quite tense but it was to be expected, it's wasn't an easy situation for him. Theo turned his head ever so slightly when Rox spoke out. He was surprised to say the least, maybe she was hoping to just go home as soon as possible like Theo.. For whatever reason though, the rogue didn't seem so keen on just coming along with them all buddy buddy. Theo sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, why did they never want to just come easily? Everything would end up so much 'nicer' for them. There was approximately 5 or 6 metres between Theo and the mutant and he was now tired of the tension. Theo was preparing himself to close the gap as quickly as possible before the mutant grew a more worried look instead of the hardened look earlier, which really worried Theo. He wouldn't run.. right? Theo groaned internally, he couldn't allow him to run, he was not in the mood to just chase after someone. "What will your friends say when you get captured and I tell them all that you ran from someone without powers?" he said carefully, doing his best to taunt the mutant. The guardian smiled as the other mutants face showed some more hope and then even more hope when he looked at Rox who was sitting down. The rogue mutant took a brief second to loosen his arms, giving them a shake at his sides and that's when Theo made his move. He made sure to close the space within a second. Theo didn't need the biggest of opportunities to end a fight, just one. He made them all count. He felt his fist in the stomach of the mutant as he curled over, dropping to his knees as he gasped for air. Life wasn't fair though, and neither was Theodore as he kicked the mutant in the side firmly. The guardian then knelt down and hit the other person in the face in an attempt to knock him out. Once he looked knocked out enough, he looked up and gave a smile to Rox, "So uh. I fight you carry, right?" That's how it worked.. right? Of course, if she refused then he had no real issue with carrying him back.. or even just dragging him back on his own. [newclass=".boldtext b"]font-family:Krub; color: #4c72a7;[/newclass]

AND I'LL SURVIVEPARANOID, I HAVE LOST THE WILL TO CHANGE. Roxana was not certain if she would have gone about all of this like Theodore, actually she was certain she would not have. She would have tried to sneak and find him late in the night and if sneaking was not an option then she would have just captured him using her power, or knocking him out with close combat. There were really so many ways to deal with a situation, so she could not really say one way was better while another was not. As long as the job was successful at the end of the day it didn't really matter how it got done. Unless you were told to do it a specific way, which they had not been so it was fine.
Granted, Rox was not really certain if it was wise to taught someone that you wanted to capture without a fight. Taunting never really worked well if you wanted to avoid a fight. Unless...perhaps Theodore wanted a fight. Now she understood, make him think they didn't have powers to make it seem like an easy win. Well, even if that were true, would the mutant really fall for a group that had captured so many mutants before losing a fight jut because they were human. Surely one would be suspicious to say the least but the look on the other mutants face made it clear that he was going to try and win what he viewed as an 'easy fight'.
It was not a long fight at all, kind of disappointing but smart given the less time wasted the better. Perhaps just a small part of Roxana wanted it to be difficult, to actually have to try. "Nicely done." Roxana spoke up as she stood up and no longer bothered to keep her crystals growing underground and towards the now unconscious mutant. It was her backup plan but it was not longer needed and the hidden crystals would just turn to dirt anyways so no one would ever be the wiser. The blondes head tilted slightly at the question, but only for a moment.
They had not agreed upon anything like that, but she supposed it didn't hurt to carry the guy and it would give her something to do. "Very well." Rox replied as she moved over and picked up the unconscious mutant with relative ease. She didn't have super strength or anything but she was fit and if you placed a person properly over your shoulders you could carry a lot more weight. "Is this how most of your encounters go? You talk them into doing something you want and taking them out quickly?" She asked as she started to walk towards base since they had no reason to hang out here and risk the captive waking up before they could get him locked up. [googlefont=Bitter]
