DANIEL ZACHARY
NYSTROM
LOOKS LIKE BRYAN DECHART
• Born in 1988 as the first child of two mutant parents. A few years later his mother and father split apart, his mother finding a new partner from the UK.
• At the age of 8 Daniel's younger brother was born, though more accurately recognised as his half-younger brother.Â
• Daniel's powers manifested at age 12. He first showed to be able to locate things quite easily, despite him never placing that object in said place himself, then moving onto closing his eyes and having small visions of where his brother would be hiding in a game of hide and seek. His parents gave it a better name of 'sensory tracking'.
• Due to his development of mutant powers, Daniel attended Bellefonte academy. He was actually well liked by many, finding that he was a social guy but not loud. Many would likely describe him as the nice guy who would stick by your side if you had no one else to eat with at lunch. It was also here that he trained properly with his sensory tracking. What started off as always getting headaches, tiredness and disorientation after every time he used his powers became less and less frequent. Eventually he developed his powers well.
• At the age of 18 Daniel graduated Bellefonte Academy and enrolled in college where he took a course path in the hopes to become a recruiter for other mutant academies. It was thanks to the encouragement of teachers and even his parents that sparked his ambition to help get others education and learn control of their powers. Daniel's own powers acted as a big advantage for him to be accepted to become a recruiter. Due to this course, he learned skills in persuasion, negotiation and better understanding of psychology.
• June 2014 led to the discovery of mutants, which unfortunately caused great stress on his job as a recruiter. It was harder to find kids who needed help before they were handed over to the government to be taken to camps. It was around this time that Daniel took part in activist groups to release mutants in camps and ensure mutant safety among the public. Daniel also returned home in order to check his brother was okay.
• Daniel's participation in the activism led to his capture and was placed in the camps. Though since Daniel was categorised as green, he was under less harsh limitations he, while others were also attempting to do so, began to help form small groups within the camps. This eventually caused less cooperation and more retaliation between some individuals in the camps and the guards. Due to this, Daniel received harsher limitations and in fact more isolation from other people.
• During his time short time in the camps he was offered recruitment in MREA for his tracking abilities yet refused the first time, a second time he was recruited Daniel was threatened that his brother would be hunted down and killed, since they classed him as red, without Daniel's say in any of it. Reluctantly he agreed to join MREA under agreement that he would help catch his brother peacefully and not have him killed but instead recruited in the government too.
• From Daniel's recruitment, he received training to become a guardian as well as be seen as a trusted member. However, Daniel underwent "treatment" (Similar to a type of shock therapy) that would almost slightly damage his memory enough where he would not remember much of what he did before being sent to the camps in fear that he'd still betray the MREA once a full member. After, fed information that he became a Guardian because he'd seen on TV and where he grew up that mutants' powers were a danger to people and it was in his best interests to protect people as best he could.
• Now, Daniel takes part in mainly tracking individuals to help hunt them down as a Guardian as well as sometimes acting as the talker in stressful situations to calm the situation down as best he can.
Daniel has always been skilled in social skills, able to have a warm and genuine smile on his face either in his own amusement as he likes to sometimes be humorous or to comfort someone else, though wouldn't be seen as a loud person. He's happy to be there for someone else and is certainly respectful of others when he receives the same back, appearing as quite professional when needs be. As a patient person, he's good to go to for advice or just be there for someone else as he gives off a clam aura. This might be because his power involves some empathy and so he is able to see things from different perspectives and weigh out his own opinion on things.
He is quite adaptable in the sense that he is happy to either sit in a corner and not talk to anyone or be in the middle of a crowd and smile as he listens to others speak. Being adaptable as well as a good listener means that he can be quite likeable and a trustworthy person to have on your side. Daniel is determined and struggles to really admit defeat, though not competitive but more moral as he is determined to protect others if he feels they need it.Â

🧬 SENSORY TRACKING

SENSORY TRACKING
In short, Daniel is able to track the whereabouts of people or objects by focusing on them and the environment surrounding them or the distance between him and his target. When it comes to people, this often involves locating a person through Something that is linked to that person in some way, be it from at strand of hair to a wall they brushed past. In other words he can focus his mind to pick up on the energy of one person at a time, as long as he can picture their face in his mind- it just works for him this way, and almost link himself to them.
When it comes to locating someone from a distance, what is explained above would still apply though he would not be able to pinpoint said person’s exact position since the energy would not be as strong. Instead, it works in a way of almost linking with their reactions to their surroundings and what they physically may see. Therefore, Daniel would be able to pick up on and see what his target may have seen in any way that links to information of a location e.g. taking note of a street sign or shop name.
With tracking a target nearby, it takes energy through small amounts for him since he would have to track more consistently. This is where touching an object, such as a door or wall that his target may have touched earlier on, would come into play and Daniel would start to add more pieces to a picture of just where a person could be. Not only this but the energy from the person he would have “attached” himself to would increase, think of it as a compass, metal detector or hot and cold. With more experience, Daniel would technically be able to locate almost anyone anywhere although this would take a considerable amount of energy and training.
As for objects, it’s much easier since they don’t move and it works in a similar way to finding someone. If it’s an object he’s held before it’s pretty much an easy job for him, in a way appearing to anyone else that Daniel just has very good memory of where things are placed. However when it comes to an object he’s never had in possession of before it’d take longer. He would need a picture in his mind of it and something linked to that object, such as a person.
LIMITATIONS
While it can be an advantage to have an intuition of the whereabouts of an individual, Daniel is not all seeing and cannot locate the exact spot some would be in at the exact moment he begins to track them. The most he has ever done is locate the house of where an individual was staying but since then he hasn’t managed to repeat. It takes energy from him to find someone else’s energy and stay locked on it as well as it not being a quick process. Some people it takes longer to find and others a few minutes. Highly empathetic and deep thinkers are likely to be vulnerable to his sensory tracking since they’re so in touch with their thoughts, this meaning that those who don’t think or even move around much can have a higher chance of staying under the radar. Daniel picks up on the energy and senses of a person, so someone who’s quite cold and detached from the world has an advantage in this case.
Without an image or the object/person Daniel would find it almost impossible to locate them. His fuel for sensory tracking is connections and he can’t begin to find something if he has no connections in the first place.
Those who can manipulate anything to do with the mind can prove a challenge for him. If he’s attempting to find someone from a long distance it can be much harder for him if someone has the ability to shut off anything that can connect to their mind. While empaths are vulnerable, they would likely be able to tell his energy is also there. Manipulators of their surroundings can also throw him off, since distortions of a street name would prove to be useless. Though this wouldn’t completely render him useless in finding someone it’d make it much more difficult.
When tracking a person from a long distance it takes time. Daniel would have to focus most of all on something similar to a “mind palace”, leaving him vulnerable to anything else going on around him. He’s perfectly conscious however a better word to describe him in that moment would be distracted, so in chaotic situations it’s more energy for him to focus.
SIDE-EFFECTS
• Daniel's ability to track others through connecting to their energy means that it can drain him, especially when it's from a long distance. This can result in him being tired quite easily when he's working on tracking a person. While also doing this, it requires almost his full attention meaning he isn't full aware of his surroundings in that moment and can be left vulnerable. Â
• Tracking a person close by but more often, in order to maybe catch up with them, would take short sparks of energy. This would mean that it's small amounts of energy but consistently.Â
• Due to Daniel sometimes connecting with someone's emotions to view their environment through their mind, it can sometimes mean that Daniel shares that empathy and can be exposed to those emotions too. However he has trained to help ignore emotions he may feel from someone else but some can slip through the net.Â
• Some individuals that have the ability to block another mind link can cause him severe headaches if he tries to push through the barrier. Other times he can get a headache from having to find different ways of tracking someone when they've built a wall to shut out any links to their mind, causing him more energy to go an extra mile to find another way.
