Artair
Campbell
LOOKS LIKE Seth Green
Artair had always wanted to be like his father. Being raised by a single parent had made him pretty attached to the one he had and it was hard not to admire a man who was not only a successful doctor and parent, but he could also create floating items with his mind! Granted it wasn't many and they were always small but still. Spending his childhood with a secret like that was magically for the young Island Scot.
It had felt like fate when his powers had started to form after his 14th birthday. Hazy to begin with and weaker than cardboard but he was special, just like his day. Life got even sweeter when he was let into an even bigger secret, there were schools built just for people like them and his dad had gone to one when he was young.
The first first years at St Bethany's flew by for Artair, so consumed by his new experiences and friends that by the time he realised it he was more concerned with his grades and school work than even trying to get better with his power. After all, he could only create a few constructs and they didn't even do that much, becoming a doctor was just so much more real to him.
Such a shame that what was just a fantasy in most peoples minds suddenly exploded into everyone's view. People knew, they knew about mutants and worse they were afraid. They were terrified of these powered freaks and Artair? Artair was too stubborn to listen to his dad's advice to come home that before he even knew what was happening the schools were being raided. Kids were dying, others were getting caged and Artair couldn't even help.
His records were destroyed in the chaos, or at they they mostly were. The government knew his name, some of his grades, his favourite flavour of soup and where he was from but no family ties or pictures to identify him. A quick name change, some false papers provided by one of the teachers who'd gone to ground and he was set up in a university in Portland. Nice and quiet and out of the way.
Artair generally wants to do good, or at least some version of it and helping people in need is generally how this plays out. Sometimes he'll fight, others he'll defend but ever since the raid he's made sure to do so carefully. he's not hard to get on with, with soft Scottish brogue making him more affable than anything else. His sarcastic manner and occasional bouts of bad temper might not endear as much but it's not usually cruel or mocking.

🧬 Weapon Constructs
📘
Psychic Constructs:
Artair can project simple, solid weapons and move them within a field projected around himself. They appear white in colour and see through, glowing with an intensity depending on how strong the weapon is. A single construct will generally have a strength slightly higher than steel without much effort. He can increase the density and cutting power of them, however this drops the amount of time he can maintain the construct drastically.
He can also create multiple constructs, however this increases focus needed and the mental strain based on the size and density of the weapon. Simple mechanical weapons, such as crossbows, can be made however it has a large energy investment and it's range is still limited by his field. More mechanically complex weapons, for instance guns are out of his ability to create.
His power does include the ability to make shields, however they are limited in size and shape to that of traditional designs. He can't make them any larger or more complex than they otherwise would be.
LIMITATIONS
· Limited to 3 “regular” sized weapons at any one time, which increases to 5 around the size of knives. He can try to push it past this but he very quickly exhausts himself physically and mentally.
· Can maintain a regular sized weapon for close to 30 minutes without pushing himself and it can be used in this manner around 4-5 times a day, given enough rest in between usage. Pushing past the time limit reduces or nullifies his ability to use it more, and can even “short out” his power for a couple of days. Maintaining more constructs significantly reduces time.
· The more weapons he creates, the weaker their hardness and strength making it harder for them to pierce armoured targets and easier to break.
· The field he can move weapons around him is only a 5 metres radius and any weapons thrown outside this area will dissipate after 10 seconds or if moved more than 15 metres away.
- While a solid steel shield could hold up to mild gunfire from small arms large amounts of it would quickly wear down his defences. Heavier duty guns or armour piercing ammunition would easily damage or even outright destroy his constructs
SIDE-EFFECTS
· The constructs themselves require large amounts of energy to create and maintain and overusing his power could quickly cause serious harm to Artairs health. It also means he has to take in a much larger amount of calories a day to keep up with the demand.
· While they don't glow intensely most of the time it would be noticeable to anyone paying attention, especially at night. Their nature and appearance would also make most passerby's aware of their unnatural properties.
· His power requires a high level of focus in order to maintain the constructs shape and strength, but also to move them all effectively inside his area. While he can use it re-actively the strength of these weapons will never be as high as when his mind is clear.
· The time limit on his powers is strict and going over it will ave increasingly negative effects. Headaches and blurred vision are common although nosebleeds, confusion and unconsciousness soon follow. In extreme circumstances overuse could cause permanent damage.
