[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext1"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile Erika wasn't certain whether she found the confidence comforting or just sad: In a way, she supposed it was good that some people still remained hopeful, while another, much larger part of her thought that it was all rather pointless, but then, she had never been one who judged the way others chose to live their lives. "Mmm." she simply mused. Once again, the brunette found herself looking out over the establisment: It was impressive that he'd managed to create something like this out of nothing. Though, it was probably more surprising because he'd never struck her as the consistent type. He'd always gone and done whatever he pleased, whenever he pleased. Unlike many others she knew, Everett had never seen content to remain in the same place for long. "I don't, no." She replied as she looked back at him, her head tilting. "Though, that is hardly surprising." She added dryly. The brunette's eyes narrowed slightly at the dry humor presented, though offered no other reaction. Her eyes followed him as he stood, and dropped to the packages placed upon the table. "That's one way of putting it, though, I haven't been in town for long." In truth, they'd only arrived yesterday. Perhaps it was a chance of luck, if nothing else. She made no move to grab for the items offered, and simply looked at them somewhat quizzically. "You should probably give these to someone who actually need them." After Bellefonte had fallen, she, Ellen and Felix had managed to scrounge up enough family money to last them. Brown eyes lifted once more. "My, haven't you become conceited." "It's better to feel the exhaustion after the fact, that in the heat of the moment." If you had the time to let yourself feel the exhaustion anyway, but that was a whole different topic for another day. The topic of conversation quickly changed and the telekinetic furrowed her brows, as if confused at the question offered. "Don't I look alright?" She countered, a hand coming up to touch her cheek, then her forehead. "I feel fine." She knew what, exactly, it was he was asking, but then, she didn't exactly see the point in explaining either. It was a trivial thing, that didn't matter one way or another. It was what it was. Something akin to disconnected amusement touched the brunette's features then, and she felt the urge to smile, though refrained from doing so. "I thought you said charity wasn't your thing." She mused, leaning back in her chair and letting the fork fall against the plate. "I don't really see why it would matter one way or another, but I can't exactly stop you either." She offered with a shrug: It was a curious thing: She knew exactly who he was talking about, because who else could there be, but she felt... Nothing. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext1"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile "Me either." But in a way, she supposed that didn't matter. Although her emotions connected to many of the factors surrounding the fall of Bellefonte, that didn't mean Erika was void of any emotion at all. She could still feel certain things, and though she was more rational in the way she was thinking, she could still feel compassion. It was just a little less emotion based. While Felix's attention slipped from their surroundings, Erika's eyes remained focused, scanning every corner and shadow. One could never be too sure these days, and though none of them stuck out in any particular way, there was still the looming threat that someone might recognize them. They hadn't exactly been invisible within the mutant community. Any of them. Though, as Felix started speaking again, Erika's attention snapped back to him. Musical therapy? It wasn't exactly something Erika would have pegged Ellen for, but then, it was better than only relying on those damned horses. "If we find somewhere permanent to stay." She began, lips pursing and brows furrowing in thought. She let the words hang in the air for a moment: They couldn't carry around any sort of equipment as things were right now, but who knew what might happen in the future. "The same thing could be said about running, but we've been doing okay." She pointed out: She wasn't blind to the hope a few simple comforts could offer, and a little sense of normalcy could go a long way. Looking away from the male, the telekinetic shrugged. "The last thing we need is you losing hope." She said simply. [newclass=".boldtext1 b"]font-family:Krub; color: #ce9b40;[/newclass]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext1"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile She couldn’t blame him for holding onto hope. While the world usually survived, and its people alongside with it, it was the first time the world had dealt with mutants, and it seemed hellbent on getting rid of them all. “It will, I agree, but that doesn’t mean we’ll still be a part of it once it does.” she offered with a shrug. Quirking her brow at him, Erika had to agree: Everett had never struck her as particularly business savvy, but then, she wouldn’t necessarily consider him reliable, either, from what she could remember. Perhaps it was different now, and perhaps he had grown. It hardly mattered, though. “So, does that mean you don’t own the place?” she asked, gazing around once more. Pursing her lips, Erika considered his question: In truth, she was only here because she wanted to scope the place out. It was important, not only to her own survival, to have knowledge about the city, and the people within it. This particular city seemed to have more mutants around than what she normally saw. “No.” she replied with a short shake of her head. “Curiosity, mostly, but otherwise just scoping the place out. Getting to know my surroundings.” She’d stopped searching for heart five years ago. Leaning back in her chair, Erika folded her hands together across the table. “Searching for anything more meaningful is the quickest way to get yourself killed.” she offered simply, her tone soft, though her expression remained detached, calculating. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext1"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile Eventually, though, Everett returned to the table, though not doing so empty handed. The amount of food he brought was rather ridiculous, but she saw no reason to comment on it. No, there was little point in being rude. Her head tilted curiously at the plate, brown orbs scanning its content: He'd always been a great cook, so the brunette saw no reason to distrust its taste. "Very well." She responded, her hand coming up to grab a fork and poking at the bacon wrapped chicken. It was only when the movement of the chair echoed through the empty room that Erika's eyes lifted. For a moment, her brows furrowed in confusion. The confusion was quickly replaced by mild amusement as the male started helping himself off of her plate. With pursed lips, Erika used the fork to pull off a piece of the chicken and guide it to her mouth. "That would imply I'd know you'd be here in the first place." She commented idly once she was done chewing. The next question was a little loaded, though: While she honestly doubted that Everett was capable of turning his back on his kind, she hadn't gotten this far by being careless. Instead of replying, the female pursed her lips and gazed about the room: It was a fine establishment. And from the look of things, it seemed to be going rather well. If the customers she'd seen leave was any indicator. "You always wanted to own your own restaurant, didn't you? A shame it took the end of the world for it to happen." Poking at the chicken once more, she pulled off another piece. [newclass=".boldtext1 b"]font-family:Krub; color: #ce9b40;[/newclass]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext1"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile Erika hadn’t made a habit of expecting to see any familiar faces while out on the road. Naturally, it happened from time to time, but it became a rarer and rarer sight to behold. Even so, Everett King was the last person she’d expected to see along the coastline of California. The feelings that should have been connected with not just the name, but the face that followed with it did not surface, and the only reaction that spilled across the telekinetic’s feature was the gentle lift of a perfectly arched eyebrow. She was not blind to the reaction the male showed, though she supposed she could hardly blame him for it. If nothing else, he was allowed to be as surprised as anyone else would have-and any other negative or positive emotion that might have stirred within. Rather than making a move to agree or disagree, the female’s brown orbs simply followed the movement of the slender male as he turned away, seemingly abruptly busy with work and things to tend to. Brown eyes then swept across the room, immediately counting the windows and taking note of the nearest exits as she made her way towards her assigned table: She’d heard about Tuesdays, though had wanted to check it out for herself before relying the information to Felix or Ellen. The flat of her palm slid across the table’s smooth surface as she sat down, once again allowing her eyes to take in her surroundings: it almost seemed as if she was purposely being ignored. Curious. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile Erika’s eyes lifted from where the rat had disappeared to give their surroundings her attention. Whatever humor had been offered by the male seemed to bounce off of her without its intended effect. But then, it had been that way since before they’d left Kalispell, and Erika had asked Ellen to use her ability. “It will do.” she replied simply. It was a roof over their heads. It might not be ideal, but it was what it was. It was only when her name was spoken aloud that the telekinetic looked over at her friend once more. For a moment, her gaze lingered there before it traveled back to the car. “She’s processing this her own way.” And Erika doubted anything she had to say would help. Unless Ellen needed someone to drag her out of the car kicking and screaming. Ever since Erika had asked Ellen to use her ability on her, Erika had become more rational and detached, no longer burdened down by her emotions or fears. “But I’ll try.” She finally added. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] SHE HAD A WHISKEY-SIPPING Skinny dipping smile For the last four-five years, the trio had found themselves on the run. Every so often, they swapped their lodging location, or even traveled from one town to another. It was easier this way, Erika supposed, than settling down in one place. Safer, too. They'd just arrived at some seedy motel, and the woman they'd rented their room from seemed to be more interested in finishing polishing her nails than to bother checking them out. They'd offered their fake IDs, but she'd barely glanced at them before giving them their keys. She hadn't minded them paying in cash either, but then, from the state of the motel, she was fairly certain the owner was just happy to get any cash at all–through whatever means necessary. It was the same routine every time. Nothing really ever changed. Erika was fine with that, of course. And it seemed, at least for the most part, that Felix and Ellen felt the same. They needed to get their bearings and learn their surroundings, just in case something happened. Ellen was waiting in the car, and Erika and Felix had been tasked with checking the place out. Brown eyes fell upon a rat scattering past them and the telekinetic frowned. At least no one would think of looking for them here. Heck, she didn't think anyone came here to look for anything. "If we get hungry, at least we don't have to run to a super market." She tilted her head as the rat rounded a corner and disappeared from view. "This seems like a place that sees a lot of outback barbecue."[newclass=".boldtext b"]font-family:Krub; color: #ce9b40;[/newclass]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] Erika Rylie Bellefonte LOOKS LIKE Nina Dobrev It's such a curious thing to find yourself falling from the very top only to find the bottom just the way you expected it to be. While it isn't what you wished it would be, a part of you–a dark part, won't allow you to be surprised, or even disappointed. It's when you gaze at this new world around you that the shock start to fade and eventually, too slow for you to notice the change yourself, the shock is replaced by a numbing sense of anger and loathing. The anger start to fester until one day, you no longer recognize yourself–and you don't care. Everything you've lost, and everything you've seen–you bury it deep down. You drown your sorrows in the rage that consumes your very soul–your very being. It pushes you from your pedestal and shakes you to your very core. There's nothing left. Nothing left but skin and bones. And then you reach the point in your life where you realize you no longer fit into this world–that there is no place for you. Not because of the way you look, but because of the name that haunts your every resting moment. You can hear their screams and smell the death that surrounds your nightmares. And everything–everyone around you: Especially him–he's a reminder of everything you wish you could have. Everything you've lost. You reach a point in your misery where you just give up. You look out the window and a once friendly, naive smile is replaced by something hollow. Something that wants nothing more but to give the world your middle-finger. So that's exactly what you do. Somehow, despite drowning within yourself, you find a small place within yourself. A small place that couldn't give a damn. And then, at some point, the nothingness that was once anger, turn into coldness and detachment, and once you realize that it's easier this way, you can feel yourself breathe again. As you let go of the last glimmer of light, it's like coming up for fresh air. You can breathe again. - Manifested at the age of eleven, and immediately enrolled into Bellefonte Academy, due to her family's influence.
- Erika inherited her family's tendency for mentally based abilities, though had some trouble with her telekinesis growing up, as the ability seemed to act based on her sub-conscious, rather than her conscious mind. Eventually, though, she learned to control it.
- Had a twin sister, an older brother and a younger sister before the fall of Bellefonte Academy. She was very close with her twin, although the two had their differences.
- No matter how hard she tried, she could never get the approval of her mother, and her father was rarely around. She looked to her grandfather, William for parental guidance instead, and after his death, her twin sister took on the role in his stead.
- Although it has gotten better over the years, Erika finds dogs somewhat terrifying. She was bit by one as a child and still finds herself feeling somewhat uncomfortable in their presence.
- Erika is incredibly stubborn, to the point of being childish, and her stubbornness usually goes hand in hand with her reckless and competitive behavior.
- Erika has had two great loves in her short lifetime–each appealing to her two, very different natures. The first, made her believe that starting over was truly a possible thing, and that she would not have to give in to the person everyone wished her to be, while the other, made her realize that being who she was meant to be, didn't mean she had to become the one others wanted her to be.
- Erika has a sweet-tooth. She loves anything with milk chocolate, caramel and licorice.
- She can hold her liquor quite well and prefers tequila and sour drinks.
- When Bellefonte Academy fell, Erika took as much of her family money as she could get her hands on and fled alongside her best friends, Felix Nicholas and Ellen Banks to avoid being put into a camp alongside her fellow mutants.
🎂 twenty-six 🧠female 💕 pansexual 💼 N/A 🧬 telekinesis 📕 TELEKINESISErika's ability works in that way that she can lift anything she can physically lift, and the stronger she is mentally, the further she can push that boundary. Basically, telekinesis is a mental ability which relies on mental strength and willpower, and the stronger one is mentally, the more one is capable of lifting. When the ability comes in contact with skin, it feels like an almost prickling sensation - as if said body part is slowly going numb, without actually doing so. Her power is also at its strongest when Erika is emotional and to her, it feels kind of like having a second personality, as the power itself often acts out on her subconsciousness. Erika can use her power to keep objects/beings from moving, lifting objects/hovering them in the air, touching/strangling/pushing/lifting others, to pull objects towards the user or to push objects away from the user, e.g. yanking a book off a shelf or sliding a cup across a table. LIMITATIONS- Can only lift objects she can physically (and mentally) lift. She wouldn't be able to lift anything as heavy as a car, but lifting chairs and throwing them around is something she'd be able to do with ease.
- Psychic strength may be proportional to user's capacity, meaning an opponent with physical strength stronger than the user's mental strength may break free, or even be immune to the ability altogether.
- She can only use her ability on objects or people within viewing distance. The further away, the more she'd have to concentrate.
- The more she uses her power and the more she pushes the natural boundaries, the quicker her energy will be drained.
SIDE-EFFECTS- Headaches that can turn into migraines if pushed, that could potentially lead to nose bleeds, nausea and worst case scenario; brain bleeds.
- Restlessness along with drained energy. This can sometimes lead to insomnia or needing several hours of sleep. It's a double-edged sword, really.
