Felix's smile had long since faltered, slipping away at his best friend's simple, almost emotionless response. No tug at the corners of her lip, no smirked giggle she'd quickly try to hide, no nudge of her elbow quickly followed by a playful bat back in the humor tennis match they'd so often engaged in back before... All of this. Instead, her response was quiet. Calm. To the point. Of course Felix understood. He understood why she would want to place any mental barrier she could, any hold on the unstable emotions from the events back in Kalispell... Who wouldn't want to forget, or at the least, place all the fear and pain into a mental locked room and throw away the key? But the upbeat in Erika, the humor, it seemed to have been dragged into that prison along with all of that hurt. It wasn't healthy, to shove all of it down into some dark place and hope it went away, it certainly wasn't going to; But what right did HE have to say that? To protest? She needed to deal with this in her own way, as did Ellen. Felix wasn't naive to how well he'd gotten it. Parents distanced themselves from the beginning, even before Bellefonte had fallen, making it easy for them to stay alive. HE was just the black sheep, the mistake in the code, easily dismissed; And if it meant his siblings stayed safe, he was more then happy to remain that. But being pushed aside was hardly the same.. HIS family were still breathing. He had NO right to judge Erika or Ellen for how they coped... But it didn't stop him from worrying, raked with guilt for feeling he was not doing enough.
"... Thanks. Although I'm not sure it'll change anything," He exhaled, beginning to pay less attention to actually scouting out the building as they walked. Another rodent scuttled by, seemingly not bothered at all by their presense. "... You know, before... Ellen came to me a few times for music therapy..." He trailed off into silence, dropping his chin a little and pulling his brows tight until they were practically knitted together. The sessions had been few, back in the old radio station. He wondered if that was even still standing, the room he'd spent hours upon hours in running the radio... "... I'd offer it again but my equipment is..." He trailed his words off again. She knew where he was headed with that, he didn't need to clarify. Giving an exasperated sigh, the ex radio host lifted his eyes to the darkening sky. There was a gentle breeze which played with his hair, brushing strands across his forehead. "I'm sorry, that feels kind of a pathetic thing to offer now that I think about it." He smiled weakly, but it lacked any sense of humor. "... I mean, how's MUSIC THERAPY going to solve anything?"

It was a true, honestly, that you didn't miss things until they were gone. The little, silly comforts of living a normal life, where the major conflict of the day could be what kind of coffee you wanted from some over priced cafe; Venturing outside without a second thought, walks in the summer, being able to just BE without any thought or fear or worry that any moment, any, heart stopping moment, a stranger might call out your name. Call out your name, followed by the rush of armed hands dragging you into some government van to take you who knew where. It all felt... Horribly insignificant now. All those luxuries he'd once had. Although sometimes Felix wished he could go back, spend one afternoon buying that far too expensive coffee in the coffee shop in Bellefonte, sat at the window. It felt like a lifetime ago. Now it was another motel, another building in a sorry state of disrepair, paint peeling and a smell that Felix wasn't certain was JUST rotting garbage from the piles of uncollected binbags in the parking lot, and another hotel owner who didn't care who they were or where they'd come from as long as they had money and didn't cause trouble. They all kind of blurred into one over the years, these corpses of buildings with broken neon signs flaring "VACANCIES" like a beacon for the desperate... And they WERE desperate. This one looked no different.
Felix breathed out slowly, exhaling a deep sigh as he glanced back over towards the car, back towards Ellen. He could just about make her out, slumped in the back seat against the window; Safe to say she hadn't wanted to scope out the new venue. "Hmm?" A quirked brow and he looked back towards his best friend, just catching sight of the rodent as it basically paraded past them and disappeared round the corner. "... I don't know, put a little oakwood smoke on it, some BBQ sauce and we're talking." A small, light hearted smile made it's way onto his lips, as Felix shoved his hands into his pockets. The same jacket he'd left Bellefonte with, it was worn and a little torn in places, and dulled in colour. "At least it's better then the last one." Bloodstains on the wall would do that... But overall, this new place looked... Okay. As okay as a motel that took cash and didn't ask questions could. "... We can likely stay here for a while. Doesn't seem like it's going to be on anyone's radar..." Felix trailed off thoughtfully, his smile slipping away. "... Hey. Eri? I'm... Getting really... Worried about Ellen." He didn't risk glancing back towards the car, in case the other girl was watching. Instead he began to walk, aiming to circle the building at least to clock the exits. Should they need them. "... She won't talk to me, not really. Even before she barely..." He fell silent a moment. He wasn't about to bring any of THAT up. "... Maybe you could talk to her?"

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] Felix Patrick Nicholas LOOKS LIKE Paul Wesley Fun, upbeat and lighthearted, Felix generally doesn’t take life too seriously (At least, before the fall of Bellefonte) and sees little value in wallowing in any form of self pity. Although he claims to be an open book, he chooses to hide certain information from others if he feels it’s in their benefit to do so, weather this is information about himself or other people.
Felix takes life in his stride, giving off a bright and fun loving atmosphere despite the harsh world they now live in. He bonds exceedingly well with others, and tries to be the pillar of a group.
When it comes to personal relationships, Felix is generally welcoming and friendly to all who come across him; at least at first. While he can take an extensive amount of personal knockbacks, and easily dismisses anyone being aggressive towards him, he won’t see it being done to someone else. He cares for others extensively, easily allowing himself to be hurt and to worry about those he cares for. He has a habit of taking on their personal battles as his own too, choosing to stay by their side even if the outcome will harm himself. He’s emotionally strong, making it relatively easy for him to deal with a lot of issues from others at once. He often feels that others don’t take his feelings into consideration. He holds a great consideration for others, often going above and beyond for someone in order to make them feel better or to solve a problem for them.
Despite his readiness to take on any of his friends’ problems, Felix is sensitive about his own. His easy going personality hides his insecurities, his worries and his fears. The feelings of others and their wellbeing is generally viewed as more important then his own. He sees himself as a necessary pillar of resolve, since so many around him are emotionally unstable; this leaves him often feeling emotionally drained, but he often refuses to show this or inform anyone else if he’s struggling.
A little Personal History Born to Richard and Anna Nicholas, Felix almost immediately entered into a highly extravagant lifestyle. Having built up a successful business in a succession of hotels throughout central America, Richard Nicholas was determined to provide anything and everything for his new family. Despite his promises, Richard barely saw his son in his toddler years, too consumed with the business and the potential for expansion; he often left Felix with a Nanny, since his wife Anna was also his business partner, and the pair of them were far more focused on their family’s financial future then the early days of their first born. This wasn’t a decision taken with any sense of unwillingness to be parents, but more their focus on providing as much as they could financially for their child; both parents had come from simple backgrounds where they had struggled with money, and that was a future they didn’t want for Felix. At four years old, upon catching Felix addressing the Nanny accidentally as his mother, Anna decided to take on a more personal approach to raising her child. This evidently left Richard with a greater workload, causing the man to spend even less time with Felix. At five his younger siblings were born, twins Priscilla and Travis. The new children were a handful, leaving Felix once more shoved into the arms of a Nanny. He spent most of his childhood being raised by her.
At the age of 14, during one of his parental arguments over his future to take over the company, Felix decided he’d had enough of listening to his father’s sharp comments regarding his career choices, choosing to turn up his music to block the man out; as he reached out for the music player, the volume suddenly violently increased, to such an extent that the boy was thrown back and his eardrums were burst. Through his recovery, his parents and others around him became aware that levels of sound were fluctuating around him. Since the moment of manifestation had caused him temporary partial deafness, he began using his newfound ability out of frustration to increase the volume of people speaking to him in an effort to hear them clearer. It was during this time he accidentally blew out his music system and destroyed the television, and caused temporary damage to a school friend’s ears. Richard Nicholas had already made subtle inquiries into his son’s condition, and was thankful when representatives from a specialist school approached him. Felix was taken to Bellefonte before his hearing had fully recovered, leading to an dangerous few weeks where he was kept separately from the main academy students, with those that did interact with him having to wear protective headphones. As his ears healed, Felix could now better judge the sound waves he was controlling, and after years of training with the academy managed to take better control of his ability. Felix flourished at the school, ran the school's radio and spent a lot of time with his best friend, Erika Bellefonte.
Everything changed once mutants were outed. Felix's Father made plans to pull his son from the Academy before the government rushed it, but knowing his Father's idea of "protection" was a lot like "prison" Felix defied him and instead ran off with Erika Bellefonte and Ellen Banks. Living on the run, Felix is heavily conflicted about what he should be doing in the terrifying new world climate, but with an overwhelming desire to protect and look after both Erika and Ellen, he has no plans to leave their side any time soon. He took a large amount of money from his account before leaving, but knows he's likely going to have to take up work soon being the least recognised of the three.
🎂 27 🧠Male 💕 HETEROSEXUAL 💼 Currently N/A 🧬 Sound MANIPULATION 📗
SOUND MANIPULATION Sound Manipulation is the ability to increase and decrease sound waves emitting from any given source. They can be increased to the point of bursting your eardrums and cracking your skull, or reduced to barely a whisper. Felix is basically is own walking speaker system. He can even separate layers of sound from music, for example the drum beat, and increase that while leaving the rest of the music piece at it’s usual volume.
LIMITATIONS Manipulating sound from a natural source is a lot harder to control then manipulating it from a speaker or controlled volume system. For example, Felix finds it far easier to control sound that’s already going through a controlled volume system, such as through speakers or sound systems, then from a natural source, for example birdsong. This is due to the fact sound of natural sources fluctuates in volume, however slight, while sound being pumped through speakers can be held at a steady level.
SIDE-EFFECTS Small increases or decreases in sound generally have no side effects; but for extreme sound changes, the effects can be quite dangerous, ranging from horrendous headaches, nosebleeds, short term deafness and burst eardrums. Depending on the sound’s pitch, it can also trigger him to feel sick, and if he’s not careful he has the potential to make himself completely deaf or damage someone else’s hearing. Using his ability in a controlled manner also requires a great deal of concentration. The longer he holds a sound steady, especially if it’s particularly large sound change from it’s original volume, the harder it is to control. Separating layers of sound is incredibility difficult compared to simply making sound louder or quieter, and requires a total focus on the task at hand, generally causing severe headaches if held for any longer then about 15 minutes.
