[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boxhover"] MY TWO NATURES HAD MEMORY IN COMMON [attr="class","boldtext2"]"Several." Came the dry response. She didn't feel the need to add onto it, though. No, her family had ensured that all members of the household was as healthy as one could possibly be, and that was before her powers had manifested. Regular check ups and health tests had been one of those things one simply did.
Remaining perfectly still, the only part of the brunette that moved was her eyes. Brown orbs flicked in the direction of the male as he spoke. She was no stranger to these kinds of... Exams, either. When she'd first gotten captured, they'd done all sorts of tests to gauge her power and assign her with a color. In comparison, this was nothing.
The task itself was simple enough: Freeze the ball in mid-air when she was told to. It wasn't a difficult task by any means. The object was small and the movement generic. Had it been a moving truck, the two might find some more difficulties with the task, but a ball? Easy. "I'm ready." She simply said instead. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boxhover"] MY TWO NATURES HAD MEMORY IN COMMON [attr="class","boldtext2"]Evelyn's head tilted at the question, though brown orbs never left the workers below. For a brief moment, she allowed herself to consider the question, though, the answer was rather obvious. "Nothing good, I assume." It was no secret that most mutants didn't take too kindly to the camps. Eve couldn't blame them, of course, but it sure as hell beat the alternative.
"Something like that." She mused, her attention finally returning to the female. It was rather surprising how few mutants chose to join the Guardians, while so many chose to remain within the camps. "Waiting for my next assignment." She added with a slight shake to her head: Evelyn had never cared much for sitting still for long periods of time. It felt too much like wasting precious time.
There was so many better ways for her to spend her time, but alas, at least she was here. Making the best of it.
"One would imagine they'd come quicker." She added. "The assignments, I mean." [newclass=".boldtext2 b"]font-family:Krub; color: #7a4d6e;[/newclass] [newclass=".elite"]width:200px;height:30px;background-color:#7a4d6e;float:left;margin-left:-120px;text-transform:uppercase;font-family;Krub;font-size:9px;line-height:30px;color:#fff;margin-top:30px;text-shadow:1.5px 1.5px #000;[/newclass] [newclass=.boxhover]height:200px;width:500px;background-color:#333333;-webkit-transition-duration:.3s;-moz-transition-duration:.3s;transition-duration:.3s;[/newclass] [newclass=.boxhover:hover]background-color:#f5de6e;-webkit-transition-duration:1s;-moz-transition-duration:1s;transition-duration:1s;opacity:0.5;[/newclass]

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boxhover"] MY TWO NATURES HAD MEMORY IN COMMON [attr="class","boldtext2"]Evelyn considered the suggestion for a moment before shaking her head. "Considering the lack of information that we have, we'd likely put ourselves more at risk by splitting up." It wasn't as if they couldn't track down this mutant again if they were to lose them. It was far better than being reckless and risking one of them getting hurt in the process. It was a calculated move on her part, but it made the most sense nonetheless.
Stepping into the elevator, Evelyn offered the other mutant a short nod when the crystal seemed to disappear from around her hands. Evelyn had always found powers that manifested in such a physical way to be a curious thing. While they were just as efficient as mental powers, there was some beauty to be found in the way they appeared still.
From the inside of her jacket pocket, Evelyn pulled out a small envelope. Handing it over to the blonde, the brunette's lips pursed. "The picture isn't the best, but it gives a general idea of what our target looks like." The photo had been printed from a gas station security camera. It was in black and white and somewhat... Blurry. But one could make out certain features, so it was a lot better than nothing. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boxhover"] MY TWO NATURES HAD MEMORY IN COMMON [attr="class","boldtext2"]Rare was the moment Evelyn found herself observing the mutants within the camps. Rarer it was for her to address anyone who did the same. She knew of the guardian standing in the small view-space above one of the work stations, though she didn't think the two had ever worked together, let alone spoken more than a few words. But then, it wasn't as if they'd really needed to:
Evelyn had her own team, and rarely saw a reason to seek out anyone who didn't belong in it.
"It's almost peaceful." She commented as she walked up to the window overlooking the work stations below. Several mutants were busy working, most of which was tending to some kind of metal work. Electronic parts, perhaps. She wasn't sure.
Leaning against the glass, the brunette crossed her arms across her chest and pursed her lips, as if in deep thought. "Like ants." Briefly, her thoughts went back to one of her classes, way before she'd ever went to Bellefonte. Their teacher had brought an antfarm to school and asked each of them to bring it home for a day to study the ants. In many ways, looking at the mutants below, it reminded her a lot of that assignment. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boxhover"] MY TWO NATURES HAD MEMORY IN COMMON [attr="class","boldtext2"]"No." Evelyn replied simply without allowing her eyes to stray from the path ahead. Brown orbs flicked back and forth, up and down, taking in their surroundings. She had grown rather familiar with Portland over the years, but some of the residental areas still blended together and it was hard remembering all of the streets and their names. Even so, the brunette didn't allow herself to be distracted from the task ahead.
"Second floor." She commented, a slender hand reaching for the elevator button. "That's where he's been spotted the most, though no one could say for sure which room he belongs to." The elevator dinged and started humming as it started moving. The screen above showed that the elevator was currently on the fourth floor, slowly making its way down.
It was only then that the brunette allowed herself a moment to look over her shoulder. Her brown eyes dropped to the other female's hand and her lips pursed. "If someone sees that," she began, nodding to her crystal-klad hand, "They'll likely panic." Evelyn's tone was matter-of-factly, but not in any way accusing. With that, the brunette turned her attention back towards the elevator.
It was odd, in a way, being out on a mission without Bellamy. Evelyn had grown so used to the female's presence, it almost felt as if something was missing. [googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] Evelyn Louise "Conner" Rose LOOKS LIKE Alicia Vikander When all the tears are rolling down your face And it feels like yours was the only heart to break When you come back home and all the lights are out And you're getting used to no one else being around
There used to be a photo, inside a black frame sitting a top a tidy desk: If one looked closely, one would notice that it had been carefully taken care of. The frame, to most, would appear perfect, but to someone with a keen eye, they'd notice the fondness that was put into taking care of that one single picture, along with that single black frame.
On the back of the photo, the text would read, "Drew and Eve, age 14." In the background, if one knew where to look, one could see the west tower of a boarding school. Next to the two brown haired, brown eyed children, suitcases were lined.
It was their–our first day.
The photo no longer sits a top the desk. The desk no longer exists.
When it's Friday night and the drink don't work the same And you're alone with yourself and there's no one else to blame When you still can't feel the rhythm of your heart And you see your spirit fading in the dark It was never part of the plan–we were never meant to stay, but for some reason we did. And while that reason should have been earth shattering at best, it was quite simple in the end: Love.
He fell in love, and somehow, that which should have changed nothing, changed everything. Such an insignificant thing became something that would shape the entirety of our lives–our future.
So he stayed. And so I stayed.
I tried arguing my point. He only smiled–smirked knowingly as he looked at me, as if he suddenly had all the answers and held the world right in the palm of his hand. Then he spoke, "C'est la vie."
When you're lost down the river, babe, I'll be there When you're lost in the darkness, I'll be there I'll be there when your heart is breaking You'll never be alone, I'll be there for you And then, without warning, everything changed. The entire world as we knew it went to hell. While to most, it was a tragedy, though to me, it was a moment of clarity. This was the world now–perhaps not at the right time, but as it always should have been.
It was an easy decision to make. It was an easy defeat to accept.
My records might have been destroyed, but my fate was sealed. I was useful to them. I complied. I didn't put up a fight. I did everything they told me to. Have you ever heard of the Darwinian evolutionary theory? It's a way of describing something as simple as natural selection, and that was exactly what this was:
Survival of the fittest.
And so I did. I survived.
When you need a little love, I got a little love to share I'm gonna come through You'll never be alone, I'll be there for you Oh, I swear, I got enough love for two There was this one girl, she understood. She understood what it took to stay alive, and not just the basic concept of it, either. No. She truly understood the sacrifice, and how easy it was to make.
When you're faced with two choices–either you adapt, or you die. Choose the selfish choice. Choose the one that keeps you alive. Choose you.
She did. She chose the selfish choice. She chose the one that kept her alive.
She chose herself.🎂 27 yrs old 🧠female 💕 unsure 💼 Guardian 🧬 Bioprohiberis 📕 BIOPROHIBERISEvelyn has the ability to freeze people (or objects) in place–and as such, make their body completely immobile. While the person is "frozen", they cannot move their body, but their otherwise bodily functions still work as normal: This means that when Evelyn focuses on their overall body, she cannot stop someone from moving their eyes, or stop their heart from beating. While "frozen", the immobile person is also cognitively present, which means that they'll still be mentally "there" during the freeze. However, while freezing one's entire body is easier, she can still–through great focus and concentration, freeze single-target parts of one's body. Such as for example freezing one's chest/ribs, forcing its movement to a standstill and stopping the movement of drawing in air to the lungs. Or focus on someone's eyes, either forcing them shut or making them unable to move, or stopping someone's lips from moving. While physical contact and hand gestures make the power easier to use–and much more effective, she can still freeze someone within line-of-sight. While freezing one's entire body takes little to no focus, freezing single-target parts require her constant attention, and the moment her focus or attention is lost, the body part will unfreeze. LIMITATIONS- Evelyn's power work better with people or animals. Moving objects (such as a fast moving car) is a lot harder to freeze and requires a lot more concentration.
- The larger and heavier the person or object, the harder they are to freeze.
- The effects of her power will always wear off. It's never permanent. As it stands, she can only freeze a person for roughly 45 minutes, and for each person she uses the ability on at the same time, the time limit is cut in half.
- Moving objects have a rough time frame of 20 minutes, where each object frozen at the same time makes the time cut in half.
- She's limited to line-of-sight. She cannot freeze someone she cannot see.
- People with psychic shields are immune to her power (as long as their shield is activated before her own power). Same goes for power suppression.
- The world around her still moves as normal. The only ones affected by her ability are the ones being frozen.
SIDE-EFFECTS- Cleithrophobia: The fear of being trapped or stuck, leading to occasional panic attacks and a sense of anxiousness that can't be properly placed.
- Restlessness: Unable to remain in the same place or state for too long. Needs something to occupy her mind or hands often.
- Headaches: Mental exhaustion and straining that can lead to nose bleeds and dizziness. If forced once these symptoms show, it can lead to severe migraines and eventually, internal bleeding.
