The air tasted like rain and approaching winter, like decay in its most harmless form. Technically, Ellen knew that it wasn't a literal year that had passed since her family had died, not even close, but it would soon be November again, and that was as close to an anniversary as it would get in this world. She had no real idea of how to spend that day yet, and she wasn't exactly eager to spend it at all. She assumed that there would be no way to just skip that day either though, and sleeping the whole day would neither work, nor would it feel appropriate and she'd kick herself afterwards, surely. Planning wasn't on her mind though, because she forced it away, shoved it back into the coffin in which it had lay in slumber for the last weeks. Once upon a time, she would have the forethought to be bold enough to confront her problems full on, bit like so many things, Ellen wasn't capable of doing that. The only thing she seemed to be good at is staying in bed and drinking her trauma away
She drank to forget.
She drank to numb herself.
Ellen took deliberate, slow breaths, her heartbeat calm and steady, despite the chaos inside her head. One of her eyes almost pressing against the scope. Her finger reaching for the trigger. She breathed out. The gun clicked. The glass of vodka had done nothing to stir the whirlwind of emotions raging through her chest, the cascade of thoughts that she couldn't tame, only shush and lock away. She was distracted looking at herself in the mirror, her new thin brown hair and pale features. So very different from who she was five years ago when a voice sounding off.
Timidly she made eye contact with the boy in front of her and back to her drink.
”I'm fine ”

For a woman in her situation. Ellen Banks was remarkably -or maybe Unremarkably given who she was- composed sat at the table her hands held together in cuffs and her legs strapped. The implication was clear; Even if she wanted to use her powers to get an advantage, she wasn't going anywhere, fast.
She has been in this room for a few Hours now after being ”picked up” but despite the situation, she remained stone-faced and grim. Say what you will about the dragon o Bellefonte, but she was nothing if not practical. Nothing would be gained by screaming and yelling when they were ready to talk they'll send someone.
...And after what felt like an age, they did.
But Ellen wasn't expecting who they did but if she was surprised to see Vera Marcelo walking towards her. She didn' show it. Vera was probably used to the reception she got from the heiress of the banks family she had been on the opposite side of the Ellen Banks death stare enough times to almost feel comfortable with it....almost.
”Ms Banks”
”No”
The respond to Vera’s greeting, was typically crisp and sharp and slightly uneven a sure sign of anger building
”if you think I'm going to indulge you addressing me like you have any authority over me because scum that storm schools gave you some kind of high powered position you can leave right now”
She remained quiet for a few moments letting Vera open her file before she spoke again with an airy laugh.
” People always used to call me a bitch; they told me I was cruel and a bully but no...I was just honest. I could read people. For years Elsa told me I was mean to you, that she trusted you I should too. But I never did. I saw right through you from day one...”
Ellen leaned forward her elbows propped against the table her eyes burning.
”You’re a vulture. A snake in the garden, a little girl who wanted to feel important, so you ended up in the Bellefonte inner circle , after they took pity on you. Because that's what they do. They're good people, and how do you repay them? By helping destroy that family’s life work. You can say what you about about me. I never wore a white hat but at least I was loyal.
She paused for a moment letting her words truly sink in careful to maintain eye contact her disgust fully on display
”Now, you're going to give me my phone call, and my father is going to come down here with his entire legal team and me Elsa, and Erika are going to walk out of here, until you put a phone in my hand, this conversation is over....Miss Marcelo

Erika was the lucky one, Ellen was able to take away her painful thoughts….Ellen, on the other hand, had to go to more traditional means of numbing herself
Ellen had also been nursing a now half empty bottle of vodka (from recent previous sessions) and a full new box of painkillers in her backshift bedroom. That was no way as lavish as her bed room back in Banks Manor
That was gone now. She didn't have a home - Ellen instead had a crappy motel and a window that only reminded her of an outside world that hated her
Losing herself and fearing she was less and less Ellen Banks and more and more whatever fake name she used this week every day - distant but future memories of her self-medicating a clean and sharp cut to the heart as she took another sip straight from the bottle, staring up at the stars through the skylight from her bed, the more Ellen tried - and failed - to rebel. Instead, only managing to somehow further close the schism between them rather than widen it like she intended...
Perpetuating the endless cycle of building herself up only to fall back down and break all over again, weaker than before with some new memory or revelation or piece of her life falling into place, Ellen closed her eyes and tried to block out the memories.

[googlefont="Krub"] [attr="class","boldtext"] Ellen Kaitlyn Banks LOOKS LIKE Brie Larson In the dying days in the academy many phrases were used to describe Ellen Katyln Banks, and not a great many of them were positive With her signature bright blond hair, cold gaze and immaculate fashion sense, Ellen looks from the outside like a girl that has it all and adored rubbing it in the face of everyone else. She was confident, and when she wanted something, she would be determined to get it, one way or another. The Banks are an old and well-known family in town, and As a result of this, Ellen could be extremely snobbish, looking down on others and frequently firing her own creative brand of insults at them. Before getting off on people's intimidation and fear of her.
On the surface it’s easy to write her off as just another mean girl but anyone that spent an extended amount of time around her can tell, there might have been a lot more going on — scarred by a cold childhood devoid of affection and her father’s standards of perfection, which stunted her emotional growth and made her a prime Peter Pan syndrome victim which explains her more childish rants. At the same time, she despises sympathy and sees right through one's attempts to feel sorry for her, usually viciously rebuffing them. Even if anyone does manage to get her to confide in them, she can be right back to treating them like dirt after. While this is frustrating for the other person, it is Ellen's safety net, to fall back on what she knows and show that she is not weak.
Even though she was well known for her cruelty. She tended to help people who have a common goal with her. So she was actually a pretty useful person to have around in a crisis (
….But that’s in the past; ever since the fall of Bellefonte and the death of the banks family, Ellen has been a shadow of herself, stripped of every single safety net
-Ellen Banks was born and raised in Kalispell as part of the infamous “Banks” family alongside her younger brother Benny, her older sister Victoria to Phillip Banks and mother, Cara. Not that, that was anything special after Cara, there was Lana. Charlotte, Donna and Rose. what Phillip lacked in being a husband, he made up for in “Playing the field”, and of course it doesn’t help to have a bottomless bank account, so it’s fair to say Ellen didn’t get a lot of motherly affection growing up
-Much like The Bellefonte, the Banks family is among the oldest institutions in the county, however, unlike the Bellefonte, the Banks have a less than glowing reputation. Known for their blond hair, wealth and….less than appealing attitudes. The general consension was that they naturally felt they were better than everyone else. Which wasn’t true at all...They wanted to prove they were
-Given the environment she grew up in, it’s not surprising Ellen’s upbringing was less than happy, her father pushing her hard and heavy towards “Banks ideals of perfection” probably due to her older sister running away from home. Growing up, the only time she was free to be a child was hanging around her older sister Victoria, who Ellen idolized...until the day she left for Australia, leaving Ellen behind to take the ire of her father, the incident probably resulted in her natural mistrust of people and the importance she places on family
-Because of this, Ellen developed what could only as severe daddy issues, Ellen’s relationship with her father has always been rather strained, to say the very least. Often showing no warmth or affection towards her, instead showering Ben in the praise that Ellen often desired, and drove her to live up to his impossible standards
-Ellen manifested at age eleven developing the rare ability of hypnosis, which she used along with her reputation and “Charm” to inspire fear and control around her.
-It’s well documented that Ellen doesn’t trust many people; however, she is known for her affection for horses getting rather close to them.
-Her sexuality is none of your god damn business thank you very much.
-When Bellefonte fell she managed to get away with what little money she had with Felix and Erika. 🎂 25 🧠Female 💕 Lesbian 💼 N/A 🧬 Hypnosis 📕 Hypnosis – Ellen has the ability to place hypnotic suggestions on people via visual, verbal, or tactile commands. Her ranges for each of these differ: for touch; she must be in contact with the target; for visual, she must be in their line of sight; for auditory, in normal speaking-level hearing distance. The power itself is a hypnotic suggestion, applied by using some repetition. Whether visually (such as turning a ring or twisting her hair), verbally (using similar language over and over, or speaking in a particularly lilting pattern of intonation), or by touch (tracing patterns over the skin). Repetition must be used in order to "captivate" her target. Commands are issued entirely verbally and can either be suggestions where the meaning is inferred or direct commands. There are two ways in which Ellen can use this power:
The first way is Hypnosis in the traditional sense where Ellen places someone into a trace like a state of extreme relaxation by lulling them into a drowsy or sleep-like trace accompanied by extreme suggestibility. However, she can only do this if the subject in question is willing to be hypnotised. This state is quite natural to break out of If she tried to do this against the subject will. It will have no effect whatsoever. Because the subject had consciously granted Ellen to access their subconscious, Ellen suggestion will have a stronger impact on the subject. However, if Ellen tries to get the subject they wouldn’t normally do, they’ll instantly wake up with all suggestions having little to no effect.
The second (And Ellen’s favourite) way of using her power is via Convert hypnosis with is how Ellen communicates with another person’s unconscious mind without that person noticing. It often takes place in the course of a seemingly regular conversation but really is a deliberate attempt on Ellen’s part to change the person’s behaviour subconsciously so that her victim believes that they changed the mind of their own volition. When done right the person is unaware they’ve been hypnotised and or that anything strange had happened. For example if Ellen wanted to make someone forget something she’ll casually remark “Oh don’t worry about that, just forget about it, it’s not important” Even though it’s impossible for her to erase a memory, the victim might find it hard to recall it, for the length of conversation that particular memory.
LIMITATIONS She cannot hypnotize people over the phone or a video system. nor can a single hypnotic suggestion change a person’s core values (she cannot suggest a person hurt someone and have it succeed unless they are already thinking of it in the first place, for example). Much like modern-day hypnotism, subtle effects can last for extended periods but are able to be ignored very easily by the target. True and immediate effects (unless it's forgetting something) last only for a short time, perhaps an hour. Coming out of the suggestion is immediate, though the subtle subconscious effects can last for a few hours. Anyone can fight a hypnotic suggestion if they know it's being placed on them. Those with mental abilities or heightened awareness of mental effects being used on them can actually notice when her powers are being used actively. Power nullifiers, identifiers, trackers, and dampeners can easily shut her down, as can telepaths and empaths or anyone else with even minimal psychic shielding. A strong enough will (like those needed for most mental metas) can also break from her “spell” more easily, though only if they know what she can do.
-Of course, her power requires an awful lot of focus to be able to pull off effectively, and Ellen simply can’t muster that any more
SIDE-EFFECTS Side-effects to using her powers include mild trances, drowsiness, dissociation from self temporarily, and some psychic backlash of whatever suggestion she gave her target (forgetfulness, depression, suspicion, etc.) At any time Ellen can snap someone out of the trance (With the person in question having no memory of the experience unless Ellen said otherwise) or The hypnotic suggestion lasts until a direct order is carried out. Eventually over time, if Ellen doesn't sustain them covert hypnosis suggestions fades away and loses their effect
